"Nonna's Plates in a stunning Victorian building in the heart of Nottingham"
A stripped back Italian, with big sharing plates, with a modern vibe based upon traditional values...
We’re huge fans of Italian food, especially when it’s served with a twist that sets it apart from the usual Italian spots. OCA had a stunning space with Victorian charm that fit perfectly with the vibe they were aiming for. The challenge? To design an Italian restaurant that didn’t shout “Hey, I’m Italian!” from the rooftops.
OCA put their trust in us to build the brand from the ground up. They shared their vision and ideas, and we ran with that to shape the branding and interiors. The heart of the concept? Nonna’s plates. You know, the kind where Nonna piles on the food until the plates are comically oversized, and everyone gathers around to share it all. It’s that “home away from home” feeling we wanted to capture.
We went for a soft, muted colour palette, think earthy tones with deep, rich greens, and added a touch of brass for that extra sparkle. We stripped back the walls to reveal the existing brick, tossed in some wood for warmth, and hung suspended plants and oversized pendant lights to create a cosy, inviting vibe. From the moment you walk in, it’s all about feeling at home, and by the end of the meal, you’ll be leaving with a craving for more.
Take a peek at the CGI visuals and branding development we cooked up for OCA below!
