Taj Tandoori is like the big, bold sibling to Taj Street Kitchen, both rocking Cambridge with their irresistible Indian flavours. The locals love it, and after getting a taste ourselves, it’s easy to see why!

Our mission? To take this space and break it into sections, each with its own vibe, but all flowing together seamlessly as you move through. It’s a fascinating space, starting with lower ceilings in the front area that open up into a grand, cavernous space at the back, featuring an impressive high apex ceiling with exposed trusses.

We wanted the entrance to feel like a lively street food market, relaxed and welcoming. Then, as you move past the bar and into the main restaurant, the atmosphere shifts to something a bit more polished and formal. Colour and texture were key here. We were determined to capture the bold, vibrant essence of Indian culture. Think pinks, yellows, greens, and oranges inspired by spices and herbs, these hues popped against the rich textures. And, of course, we added mandala patterns throughout to bring in that graphical edge the space craved.

To bring the design to life, we created CGI visuals and a walk-through video that helped sell the vision, and it got some serious love! To make sure this concept became a reality, we also put together a technical drawing pack for the contractors to use for costing and building.
